Replacement for Rick Lyons' DSP Book
Hi All,
I've been using Rick's Understanding DSP book for my DSP classes for the last 15+ years but now the publishers have stopped supplying even the electronic book.
The exercises at the end of each chapter were excellent for giving the students assignments.
I'm just wondering if anyone on here has any recommendations for a replacement that includes suitable chapter exercises.
TVM, John

Thanks Arie,
That is indeed the book but I'm not sure the University who employ me or the publisher of the book will thank me for sharing an unauthorised copy with students.
Best, John
Perhaps you could consider contacting Mr. Lyons directly and see if he is able to provide an electronic copy

Hi John, maybe the book of Thomas Holton fits in your course.

I used the books fron Rick, of monson Hayes but this is a good summary of both.
Best,
Mariano.
Thank you, Mariano,
I had found that book and it does indeed look good but it's quite expensive for students to purchase. That said, I have contacted the publisher for further details.
Best,
John

This could possibly be useful to you (in case you haven't already stumbled on this by yourself):
Thank you very much, Stephane, I've just watched it :-)
I'm going to see if the publishers can do a deal on the price :-)

As you probably know, Rick Lyon's book (3rd edition) is still available new or as an ebook on Amazon.
Thanks Neil,
Agreed but the publisher has told me "I
regret to inform you that the book is now out of print and no
longer available for adoption"
Unfortunately that means that I do not know how long it will be available on Amazon so I'm thinking I might as well move over to a book that is supported by the publisher.
Best,
John

I suggest "Introduction to Signal Processing" by S. J. Orfanidis.
Electronic materials here.
Thanks Michael,
Another great suggestion. Unfortunately, Sophocles provides the solutions manual so I'll either have to create my own exercises or expect all the students to get 100% ;-)
Best,
John
I was able to purchase it on Amazon about a year ago. However, I'm not sure if the situation has changed since then

Hello,
I am glad to hear that this was useful. I have also sent an inquiry to Mr. Lyons to see if he has anything to say regarding the book's status
