Hi all-
Does anyone know what M(QN) notation means ? For example 15(Q16) ?
I'm familiar with QN, QN.M, but not with a leading number followed by parens. I suspect it's something to do with sign or number of sign bits ... but I thought I would ask the definitive experts here on dsprelated.
Thanks, Jeff
I'm not an expert, and couldn't find much when searching online. But maybe it's just an embellished or extended way of indicating QN, i.e. 1 sign bit, N bits fractional.

Hi Robert-
Thanks, that makes sense. I couldn't find any clear examples either.
