Error Concealment | JPEG | MPEG-4 | Wavelet | YUV

Hi

I am working on scalable coding of images and videos. I do not quite understand how DWT is
performed on images (2D DWT). For image compression using Discrete Cosine Transform, DCT is
perform on each of the pixel values of Y, Cr, Cb components before quantization and entropy
coding. Does DWT works the same way? (ie. performed on pixel values) Or is it a totally
different process? Are there any books or websites on the fundamentals?
